The devices use NVEs patented* IsoLoop spintronic Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) technology. The IL422 was the first isolated RS-422 interface in a standard 16-pin SOIC package to meet the ANSI Standards EIA/TIA-422-B and RS-485. The IL422 has current limiting and thermal shutdown features to protect against output short circuits and bus contention situations that could cause excessive power dissipation.
