PCE (Processor Core Enhanced) is Intel’s latest and most advanced architecture for its consumer PC processors. It enables new and improved platforms to maximize performance and power efficiency and supports integrated security, artificial intelligence (AI) acceleration, and advanced connectivity. Part 1: Core Processor Technologies At the heart of PCE are enhanced core processor technologies and architectures that enable greater single-threaded performance, multicore performance, and scalability. This includes significant increases in processor core clock speeds, increased cache sizes, and deeper out of order execution pipelines. In addition, PCE has support for integrated GPU cores and dedicated graphics processors, and even allows users to mix and match integrated and discrete GPUs. Part 2: Security Enhancements Security is a major focus of PCE, with support for Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT), which helps protect the PC from malicious attacks, and Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), which can also be used to protect applications from external threats. PCE also supports Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) New Instructions (AES-NI) and Intel Platform Protection Technology (PPT), which empower users to protect their data from both external and internal threats. Part 3: Connectivity PCE also provides several enhancements for better connections, faster networking, and improved data transfer speeds. PCE has built-in support for 10GB Ethernet, and also includes support for Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1, and Intel Optane Memory. For wireless connections, PCE supports 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
