The XL-MAXSONAR-AE4 MB1340 part from Pololu is an ultrasonic range finder capable of measuring distances from 4 cm to 765 cm. This part comes in a 4 pin, small, 38 mm by 18 mm form factor and is powered from 2.5 V-5.5 V. It also has an output of an analog voltage proportional to the range. The chip itself could be used to measure the distance of an object in both indoor and outdoor locations, making it a great resource for robotics. In addition, the MB1340 is immune to the effects of wind, rain, dust, and other environmental conditions.
