College
Pomona College, established in 1887, is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, United States. It is part of the Claremont Colleges, which includes five undergraduate Claremont colleges, Caltech, and the Keck Graduate Institute. 2450, or Bond Hall, is the oldest and largest building on campus, constructed in 1906-1907, serving as the main library from 1907 - 2002. It was designed by famed Los Angeles architect Myron Hunt, in a Collegiate Gothic architectural style, and contains various features including:
• A beautiful chapel with Romanesque arches and baroque elements
• Gothic-style windows, intricate stonework, and crenellated towers
• A large enclosed reading room containing a portrait of founder James A. Blaisdell
• An extensive collection of rare books, periodicals, and manuscripts
• A grandiose staircase near the entrance
• Several fireplaces, many of which have original Pomona College designs
• A stage located in The Rose Room
• Stained glass windows showcasing scenes of Pomona College and its history
