aphase The NEF30-BXY part of Prometaphase is a set of proteins involved in the regulation of nuclear envelope reassembly during prometaphase. This consists of three proteins, NEF30a, NEF30ß, and NEF30?, which are known to be required for nuclear envelope reassembly in higher eukaryotes and in some organisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae. They are involved in the structural maintenance of the nuclear lamina and in the reorganization of chromatin at prometaphase. NEF30a also functions in promoting the uptake of cellular mRNAs. Mutations in NEF30 proteins have been linked to syndromes such as Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy and X-linked myopathy with excess of lamin proteins.
