The 8224 radial magnetron is a high-power RF (radio-frequency) power amplifier that works in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) frequency band range. It operates in the microwave region of the RF spectrum and produces an output power of more than 1000 watts in the frequency range of 5–6 gigahertz (GHz). The 8224 is used in medical and industrial applications such as medical imaging, radiosurgery, radar, and pulse echo ranging. Its high power, wide frequency coverage, and small size have made the 8224 one of the most popular magnetrons in use today. The 8224 is powered by a DC voltage and delivers an RF signal in the frequency range of 4–6 GHz with a nominal power of 1000 W. The 8224 features an impedance of 50 ohms, a modulation bandwidth of up to 500 MHz and a pulse repetition frequency of up to 1000 kHz. The 8224 is also capable of operating in dual-mode, enabling simultaneous operation at two different frequencies and providing an output power of 1600 W.
