DATASHEET X9313 FN8177 Rev 7.00 Digitally Controlled Potentiometer (XDCP) Linear, 32 Taps, 3 Wire Interface, October 7, 2015 Terminal Voltages VCC The Intersil X9313 is a digitally controlled potentiometer Features (XDCP). The device consists of a resistor array, wiper Solid-state potentiometer switches, a control section, and nonvolatile memory. The wiper position is controlled by a 3-wire interface. 3-wire serial interface The potentiometer is implemented by a resistor array 32 wiper tap points composed of 31 resistive elements and a wiper switching - Wiper position stored in nonvolatile memory and network. Between each element and at either end are tap recalled on power-up points accessible to the wiper terminal. The position of the 31 resistive elements wiper element is controlled by the CS, U/D, and INC inputs. - Temperature compensated The position of the wiper can be stored in nonvolatile - End-to-end resistance range 20% memory and then be recalled upon a subsequent power-up - Terminal voltages, -V to +V CC CC operation. Low power CMOS The device can be used as a three-terminal potentiometer or -V = 3V or 5V CC as a two-terminal variable resistor in a wide variety of - Active current, 3mA max. applications including: - Standby current, 500A max. Intersil Pb-free products are MSL classified at Pb-free peak reflow temperatures that meet or exceed the Pb-free requirements of IPC/JEDEC J STD-020. *Add T1 suffix for tape and reel. Please refer to TB347 for details on reel specifications. **AddT2 suffix for tape and reel. Please refer to TB347 for details on reel specifications. ***Pb-free PDIPs can be used for through hole wave solder processing only. They are not intended for use in Reflow solder processing applications. Up/Down (U/D) Pin Descriptions The U/D input controls the direction of the wiper movement RH/VH and RL/VL and whether the counter is incremented or decremented. The high (RH/VH) and low (RL/VL) terminals of the X9313 are Increment (INC) equivalent to the fixed terminals of a mechanical potentiometer. The terminology of RL/VL and RH/VH The INC input is negative-edge triggered. Toggling INC will references the relative position of the terminal in relation to move the wiper and either increment or decrement the counter wiper movement direction selected by the U/D input and not in the direction indicated by the logic level on the U/D input. the voltage potential on the terminal. RW/VW RW/VW is the wiper terminal and is equivalent to the movable terminal of a mechanical potentiometer. The position of the wiper within the array is determined by the control inputs. The wiper terminal series resistance is typically 40 at V = 5V. CC FN8177 Rev 7.00 Page 2 of 12 October 7, 2015
