Dahl’s “Lamb to the Slaughter”
RSLD035-05 is the part of the story when Mrs. Maloney returns home after having gone out to shop for groceries, unaware that her husband is about to deliver some shocking news. She is surprised to find the room empty and, as she inspects it, finds that her husband's slippers and his old pipe, usually found on the mantelpiece, are gone. As she realizes that her husband has left her, Mrs. Maloney begins to feel angry and desperate. She begins to search for her husband and, eventually, finds the heavy frozen leg of lamb that she had purchased earlier. She then goes back into the living room and plans to prepare dinner as usual, with the lamb being the main course.
