SA3 is the third primary and secondary stowage activity that is part of the Roman-Jones process. During this activity, all cargo is placed in its permanent container and the container is secured to any necessary foundations or bulkheads. Furthermore, lashing and dunnage are applied and the cargo-securing principles are adhered to according to IMO regulations. Finally, a confirmation of the loading must be completed to document any anomalies before the classification society’s surveyor arrives.
