The Seeed Studio MQ5 Gas Sensor is a microcontroller-compatible module for detecting combustible gas and smoke that are made of SnO2 (tin dioxide). It is designed to consume less power and offers low-cost sensing capabilities. The MQ5 has a remarkably high sensitivity to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), butane, and propane gases, along with excellent sensitivity to smoke. It also has a fast response time of less than 10 seconds and can detect concentrations of combustible gases in the range of 200 to 10,000ppm with a resolution of 10ppm. The MQ5 is factory calibrated and it is also suitable for applications with low long-term stability requirements. Additionally, the MQ5 is highly temperature compensating, with an environment temperature range of -20°C to 50°C, meaning it can detect combustible gases accurately in a variety of temperatures. It also features a wiring terminal type connector for easy connection to other components, and it is shipped with an accompanying sensitivity test board, making it easy to use.
