SR-G1, like the other four parts of Sorny Roongruang, is a Thai classical theatre performance. It is a unique type of theater, combining the aspects of both classical theatrical and musical performances. The performance includes a variety of musical instruments, which traditionally includes the use of flutes (phin), drums (klong), horns (khaen), gongs (khrab), cymbals (tlung) and more. Additionally, performers may have a variety of props and costume items in order to create a more visually stimulating experience. SR-G1 is composed of a number of songs and dances in a variety of styles, and is usually performed by a group of female dancers. The performance is often accompanied by a string of musicians, usually playing traditional Thai instruments. SR-G1 often has a certain spiritual element to it,like many Thai classical performances. It is usually performed in ornately decorated venues, and often has a narrative or story-driven overtone.
