TRL00322T is an introductory course to the principles and methods for the study of religion at Syracuse University. The course introduces students to different academic approaches to the study of religion, including history, sociology, anthropology, psychology and literary analysis. This course examines religious experience, doctrine, scripture, organization, and practice in diverse cultural contexts. Students gain an understanding of the complexity of religion's role in cultural and social life, including its contributions to values, identity and behavior.
