SF18 (Super FinFET 18) is a process technology used by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC). It is the first version of the company’s advanced 7 nanometer (nm) process and provides up to 30% performance improvement when compared to the predecessor 10nm process. The technology is tailored for a wide range of applications such as high-end mobile applications (smartphones, tablets and wearables), AI applications, high-performant computing and HPC/HPA (high-performance computing/high-performance artificial intelligence). The process provides improvements in area, power, and performance. Features include better drive current, improved layout flexibility, improved reliability, lower leakage, higher frequency and better system performance.
