TS7800 Series 3-Terminal Fixed Positive Voltage Regulator TO-220 ITO-220 Pin Definition: 1. Input 2. Ground (tab) 3. Output General Description The TS7800 series voltage regulators are monolithic integrated circuits designed as fixed-voltage regulators for a wide variety of applications including local, on-card regulation. These regulators employ internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area compensation. With adequate heatsink they can deliver output currents up to 1 ampere. Although designed primarily as a fixed voltage regulator, these devices can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents. Features Standard Application Circuit Output Voltage Range 5 to 24V Output current up to 1A No external components required Internal thermal overload protection Internal short-circuit current limiting Output transistor safe-area compensation Output voltage offered in 4% tolerance A common ground is required between the input and the Ordering Information output voltages. The input voltage must remain typically 2.0V above the output voltage even during the low point on Part No. Package Packing the Input ripple voltage. TS78xxCZ C0 TO-220 50pcs / Tube XX = these two digits of the type number indicate voltage. * = Cin is required if regulator is located an appreciable TS78xxCI C0 ITO-220 50pcs / Tube distance from power supply filter. Note: Where xx denote voltage option, available are: ** = Co is not needed for stability however, it does improve 05=5V, 06=6V, 08=9V, 09=9V, 10=10V transient response. 12=12V, 15=15V, 18=18V, 24=24V o Absolute Maximum Rating (Ta = 25 C unless otherwise noted) Parameter Symbol Limit Unit V =5~18V 35 OUT Input Voltage V V IN V =24V 40 OUT Output Current I Internal Limited OUT Power Dissipation P Internal Limited D o Operating Junction Temperature T 0~+125 C J o Storage Temperature Range T -65~+150 C STG TO-220 5 o Thermal Resistance - Junction to Case R C/W JC ITO-220 5 TO-220 50 o Thermal Resistance - Junction to Ambient R C/W JA ITO-220 60 Note: Absolute maximum ratings are those values beyond which damage to the device may occur.
