The CD4021BE is a CMOS 8-stage static shift register integrated circuit from Texas Instruments. It contains a shift register, data selector, and an output register. This chip is used for shifting in data sequences and for controlling logic operations. The outputs of the data selector can drive up to seven logic gates. This shift register can be used for data transfer, signal switching, and signal transmission. It is capable of handling up to 400kHz clock frequencies and operates on voltages from 2V to 6V. The chip has an 8-bit data bus that can be used to select the input legs from either the 8 stages or combinations thereof to enable data storage and fast transfer of data between register stages. It has a high noise immunity and is available in a 20-pin Dual In-line Package (DIP).
