The XTR116UA/2K5 Specialized 4-20mA Current Loop Transmitters is a high performance, low power IC for use in transmitting 4-20mA current-loop signals, developed by Texas Instruments. It is a simple, low-cost solution for high resolution, galvanically isolated current loop transmission up to 2.5 kVrms, while minimizing board space and power dissipation. The XTR116UA/2K5 features programmable linearity, range, and low-power operation. It also features a high voltage bipolar output that can transmit up to 2.5 kVrms, 15-bit precision over the range 0-20 mA, which improves overall current-loop performance while meeting the requirements of industrial applications. The XTR116UA/2K5 offers an innovative integrated current loop output for our use, with adjustable gain and offset. It also includes an on-chip, low-dropout regulator that is enabled by a single resistor for self-powered applications and an external voltage supply for higher power applications. Additionally, the XTR116UA/2K5 includes a programmable slew rate to minimize overshoot, as well as other features to keep output ripple and latency under control. It is suitable for applications in the automotive and industrial market, as well as in medical imaging and communications systems.
