Visual Communications Company (VCC) was established in 1813 in Boston, Massachusetts by James Ford and Samuel Morse. With the invention of Morse code, VCC became the first American business to offer a successful commercial telegraph operation. The company soon grew to become the leading supplier of telegraph technology in the United States. In addition to providing businesses with telegraph service, VCC also launched a variety of innovative new visual communications products, including mechanical telegraph equipment, electrical telegraph displays, message routing systems, and equipment for phonograph recording. These products enabled VCC to become a leader in developing visual technology for the masses. The company also began producing multi-camera systems for news and commercial applications, which allowed for the simultaneous transmission of images. This made VCC one of the earliest pioneers of modern visual communications.
