In 1866, the Visual Communications Company (VCC) was a visual communications firm that specialized in designing and developing visual solutions for business and government. VCC was the first company to introduce lithography, an early form of printing, to the United States. The company also utilized its own proprietary printing presses to produce printed materials ranging from business cards and stationery to large posters and advertisements. In addition, VCC offered an extensive line of services that included layout, type composition and composition services, book and newspaper printing, photographic retouching, and engraving and etching services. VCC gained recognition for the quality of the designs and materials produced and was responsible for creating several iconic images that are still in use today.
