Water Transmission
The GBP2005 is part of the Yangjie Water Transmission project, which is the world's largest water transfer project. It involves the construction of a series of interconnected dams, canals, aqueducts, and other infrastructure to divert water from the Yangtze River and its tributaries in the Sichuan province of China to Xinjiang. The GBP2005 portion of the project includes the construction of three large dams on the Jinsha River, two diversion tunnels to transfer water to the neighboring provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, and Tibet, and two main canals containing six buckets and a total length of 1,090 km. The project is expected to provide drinking water to more than 48 million people and boost agricultural production in some of the driest parts of China.
