Fibre optic testing is a technical process that involves testing a fibre optic cable and checking for any problems with the cable connections, such as power loss, signal degradation, or broken strands of fibre. It’s a vital step in ensuring the highest quality of fibre optic signalling, as well as ensuring that any abnormalities are identified quickly. Fibre optic testing should be carried out at regular intervals in order to maintain a reliable connection, as well as when a cable has been installed, in order to ensure it’s working perfectly. Fibre tests involve measuring signal strength, interruption times, and the optical power at various points along the cable. Additionally, fibre optic testing should also involve placing the fibre cable under different environmental conditions, such as exposure to extreme temperatures, in order to check its structural integrity.
