An OCXO, or Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator, is an electronic crystal oscillator with a temperature-stabilizing oven. The oven of the OCXO maintains a steady temperature through the use of a thermal sensor and an active temperature-control system. The temperature control helps to reduce the effects of temperature variations, increasing the accuracy and stability of the oscillator. OCXOs can be used in applications that require a highly stable, precise frequency reference for measuring frequencies, for calibration of radio equipment, for navigation equipment and for radio transmitters.
