Uses of coaxial cables

Coaxial cables are usually used for radio setups, and are generally ideal for carrying signals between an antenna and a receiver. An example of this includes transferring data from television antennas to receivers. The use of coaxial cables has since been overtaken over by fiber optics for phone networks.

Coaxial VS fibre optics

While coaxial cables and fiber optics can both carry audio and video data, they each have different advantages. Coaxial cables are incredibly durable and are better used to transmit data over shorter distances. For that reason, they work extremely well in homes. Fiber optics are typically more expensive options, but work well over longer distances.
