Noratel manufactures customized transformers and wound components. It offers safety isolating, isolating, 3-phase, toroidal, transient suppression, medical, vario variable, and current transformers; autotransformers; and reactors/chokes, DC-power supplies, and accessories. Its products are used in various applications in ships and trains, wind turbines, lifts, escalators, cranes, solar panels, refrigerators, and medical devices. It serves automation, motor drives, installation/wholesaler, mobility, and audio sectors. Noratel was formerly known as Norsk Radio Tele & Telefon A/S and changed its name to Noratel AS in 1956. The company was founded in 1925 and is based in Hokksund, Norway with additional offices in Laxå, Sweden; Dobra Szczecinska, Poland; Katunayake, Sri Lanka; Grafenau and Bremen, Germany; Nantwich, United Kingdom; Marbella, Spain; Salo, Finland; Charlotte, North Carolina; Kerala, India; Växjö, Sweden; Carson, California; and Nanhai District, China. As of July 17, 2014, Noratel operates as a subsidiary of Acal plc.
