HMC875LC3C v06.0614 20 Gbps Clocked COMPARATOR with RSCML OUTPUT STAGE Typical Applications Features The HMC875LC3C is ideal for: Propagation Delay Clock to Output: 120 ps ATE Applications Overdrive & Slew Rate Dispersion: 10 ps High Speed Instrumentation Minimum Pulse Width: 60 ps Digital Receiver Systems Resistor Programmable Hysteresis Differential Clock Control Pulse Spectroscopy Input Bandwidth: 10 GHz High Speed Trigger Circuits Power Dissipation: 130 mW Clock & Data Restoration RSPECL and RSECL Versions Available 2 16 Lead 3x3 mm SMT Package: 9 mm Functional Diagram General Description The HMC875LC3C is a SiGe monolithic, ultra fast comparator that features reduced swing CML output drivers and clock inputs. The comparator supports 20 Gbps operation while providing 120 ps clock to data output delay and 60 ps minimum pulse width with 0.2 ps rms random jitter (RJ). 25 Gbps operation can be achieved with reduced output voltage swing. Over- drive and slew rate dispersion are typically 10 ps, making the device ideal for a wide range of applicati- ons from ATE to broadband communications. The reduced swing CML output stage is designed to directly drive 400 mV into 50 ohms terminated to GND. The HMC875LC3C features high-speed latches with pro- grammable hysteresis, and is configured to operate as a clocked comparator.
