High Stability Isolated Error Amplifier Data Sheet ADuM4190 FEATURES GENERAL DESCRIPTION 1 Stable over time and temperature The ADuM4190 is an isolated error amplifier based on Analog 0.5% initial accuracy Devices, Inc., iCoupler technology. The ADuM4190 is ideal for 1% accuracy over the full temperature range linear feedback power supplies. The primary side controllers of Compatible with Type II or Type III compensation networks the ADuM4190 enable improvements in transient response, power Reference voltage: 1.225 V density, and stability as compared to commonly used optocoupler Compatible with DOSA and shunt regulator solutions. Low power operation: <7 mA total Unlike optocoupler-based solutions, which have an uncertain Wide voltage supply range current transfer ratio over lifetime and at high temperatures, the V : 3 V to 20 V DD1 ADuM4190 transfer function does not change over its lifetime V : 3 V to 20 V DD2 and is stable over a wide temperature range of 40C to +125C. Bandwidth: 400 kHz Included in the ADuM4190 is a wideband operational amplifier Isolation voltage: 5 kV rms reinforced for a variety of commonly used power supply loop compensation Safety and regulatory approvals (pending) techniques. The ADuM4190 is fast enough to allow a feedback loop UL recognition: 5000 V rms for 1 minute per UL 1577 to react to fast transient conditions and overcurrent conditions. CSA Component Acceptance Notice 5A Also included is a high accuracy 1.225 V reference to compare VDE certificate of conformity with the supply output setpoint. DIN V VDE V 0884-10 (VDE V 0884-10):2006-12 V = 849 V peak IORM The ADuM4190 is packaged in a wide body, 16-lead SOIC package Wide temperature range for a reinforced 5 kV rms isolation voltage rating. 40C to +125C ambient operation 150C maximum junction temperature APPLICATIONS Linear feedback power supplies Inverters Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) DOSA-compatible modules Voltage monitors FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM V V 1 16 DD1 DD2 GND 2 15 GND 1 2 V 3 14 V REG1 REG UVLO UVLO REG REG2 REF REF 4 REF REF 13 OUT1 OUT NC 5 12 +IN Tx EA 6 11 OUT2 IN Rx EA 7 10 COMP OUT GND GND 8 9 1 2 ADuM4190 Figure 1. 1 Protected by U.S. Patents 5,952,849 6,873,065 and 7,075,329.
