The HSMF-C114 provides a communication channel that can be used for TOSLINK digital audio, Radio Frequency (RF) coaxial cables, and Fiber Optic cables. It is capable of transmitting and receiving 10GBPS serial data, or up to 2GBPS analogue video signals. The Broadcom chip also features a power management system that incorporates automatic shutdown and wake-up modes to help conserve energy.
