TR-12 is an ASEAN-wide agreement for free trade between the countries of Thailand, Rangoon, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Malaysia. The Agreement was signed in October 2018 and came into effect on January 1, 2019. It eliminates most import tariffs, sets up rules for easier movement of products, services, investments and capital between the member countries, and provides services to facilitate customs procedures. It also addresses intellectual property rights, environmental protection, state-owned enterprises, trade defence measures and other areas to encourage free and fair trade.
