It is a unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) designed to protect electronics from voltage-induced transient surges due to electrostatic discharge, inductive switching, and other causes. It has a low operating voltage of 5.0V with a maximum working peak pulse power of 500 Watts. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 17V, a maximum clamping voltage of 26.7V, and a maximum leakage current of 200nA. The SMBJ17A is RoHS compliant for lead-free use and can operate over a wide range of temperatures from -55 to +150°C.
