MP2618 2A, 24V Input, 600kHz 2-3 Cell Switching Li-Ion Battery Charger With System Power Path Management The Future of Analog IC Technology DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP2618 is a monolithic switching charger Charges 2-3 cell Li-Ion battery packs for 2-3 cell Li-Ion battery packs with a built-in Wide Operating Input Range internal power MOSFET. It achieves up to 2A Up to 2A Programmable Charging Current charge current with current mode control for Power Path Management with Current fast loop response and easy compensation. Sharing The charge current can be programmed by 0.75% V Accuracy BATT sensing the current through an accurate sense 0.28 Internal Power MOSFET Switch resistor. Up to 90% Efficiency MP2618 regulates the charge voltage and Fixed 600kHz Frequency charge current using two control loops to realize Preconditioning for fully depleted batteries high accuracy CC charge and CV charge. Charging Operation Indicator Input Supply and battery fault indicator The system power path management function Thermal Shutdown ensures continuous supply to the system by Cycle-by-Cycle Over Current Protection automatically selecting the input or the battery. Battery Temperature Monitor and Protection Power path management separates charging current from system load. When the MP2618 APPLICATIONS realizes current sharing of the input current, Netbook PC charge current will drop down according to the increase of the system current. Distributed Power Systems Chargers for 2-Cell or 3-Cell Li-Ion Fault condition protection includes cycle-by-cycle Batteries current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
