The area contains predominantly working-class housing, with some areas consisting of multi-family properties and town houses. The Ironbound section of Newark, to the east of the 21-10590 area, contains many excellent restaurants and cafes, as well as an active nightlife. Residents of 21-10590 have access to local amenities such as a library, supermarkets, and grocery stores, however other services such as banks, ATMs, and post offices are only located in the neighboring Ironbound area.
