It is a general purpose Zener diode that provides stabilization of voltage, noise reduction, and back-to-back switching. It is commonly used in voltage regulation, clamping, capacitive dropper, and avalanche breakdown applications. It has an operating temperature range between -55°C and 150°C, a breakdown voltage of 6.8V and a short circuit current of 200mA. The BZX79C6V8 is a planar Zener diode in a DO-214AC hermetically sealed glass as a surface mount device.
