FDMF5833 Smart Power Stage (SPS) Module with Integrated Thermal Warning and Thermal Shutdown www.onsemi.com Description The SPS family is ON Semiconductors nextgeneration, fully optimized, ultracompact, integrated MOSFET plus driver power stage solution for highcurrent, highfrequency, synchronous buck, DCDC applications. The FDMF5833 integrates a driver IC with a bootstrap Schottky diode, two power MOSFETs, and a thermal monitor into a thermally enhanced, ultracompact 5 mm x 5 mm package. PQFN31 5x5, 0.5P With an integrated approach, the SPS switching power stage is CASE 483BR optimized for driver and MOSFET dynamic performance, minimized system inductance, and power MOSFET R . The SPS family uses ON Semiconductors MARKING DIAGRAMS DS(ON) highperformance POWERTRENCH MOSFET technology, which FDMF5833 reduces switch ringing, eliminating the need for a snubber circuit in most buck converter applications. A driver IC with reduced dead times and propagation delays further enhances the performance. A thermal warning function warns of Y&Z&3&K a potential overtemperature situation. A thermal shutdown function FDMF turns off the driver if an overtemperature condition occurs. The 5833 FDMF5833 incorporates an AutoDCM Mode (ZCD ) for improved lightload efficiency. The FDMF5833 also provides a 3state 5 V PWM input for compatibility with a wide range of PWM controllers.
