NCP1605, NCP1605A, NCP1605B Power Factor Controller, Enhanced, High Voltage and Efficient Standby Mode www.onsemi.com The NCP1605 is a controller that exhibits nearunity power factor MARKING while operating in fixed frequency, Discontinuous Conduction Mode DIAGRAMS (DCM) or in Critical Conduction Mode (CRM). Housed in a SOIC16 package, the circuit incorporates all the 16 features necessary for building robust and compact PFC stages, with NCP1605G a minimum of external components. In addition, it integrates the skip AWLYWW cycle capability to lower the standby losses to a minimum. 1 1 General Features SOIC16 NearUnity Power Factor 16 D SUFFIX CASE 751B NCP1605xG Fixed Frequency, Discontinuous Conduction Mode Operation AWLYWW Critical Conduction Mode Achievable in Most Stressful Conditions 1 Lossless High Voltage Current Source for Startup x = A or B Soft Skip Cycle for Low Power Standby Mode A = Assembly Location Switching Frequency up to 250 kHz WL = Wafer Lot Y = Year Synchronization Capability WW = Work Week Fast Line / Load Transient Compensation G = PbFree Package Valley Turn On High Drive Capability: 500 mA / +800 mA PIN CONNECTIONS Signal to Indicate that the PFC is Ready for Operation STBY 1 HV 16 (pfcOK Pin) BO 15 NC 2 V range: from 10 V to 20 V CC V 14 OVP/UVP control 3 Follower Boost Operation FB STDWN 4 13 Two V TurnOn Threshold Options: CC CS pfcOK/REF5V in 5 12 15 V for NCP1605 & NCP1605B 10.5 V for NCP1605A CS /ZCD 6 11 V out CC These Devices are PbFree, Halogen Free/BFR Free and are RoHS Ct DRV Compliant 7 10 OSC/SYNC 8 GND 9 Safety Features (Top View) Output Under and Overvoltage Protection BrownOut Detection ORDERING INFORMATION SoftStart for Smooth Startup Operation Overcurrent Limitation Device Package Shipping Zero Current Detection Protecting the PFC stage from Inrush NCP1605DR2G SOIC16 2500/Tape & Reel Currents (PbFree) Thermal Shutdown NCP1605ADR2G SOIC16 2500/Tape & Reel Latched Off Capability (PbFree) Typical Applications NCP1605BDR2G SOIC16 2500/Tape & Reel (PbFree) PC Power Supplies For information on tape and reel specifications, All Off Line Appliances Requiring Power Factor Correction including part orientation and tape sizes, please refer to our Tape and Reel Packaging Specification Brochure, BRD8011/D.
