DDAATTASHEETASHEET ATLAS Digital Amplifiers FEATURES Ultra efficient all digital Pulse and direction input solderable power amplifier for step motor operation Controls Brushless DC, Internal temperature step, and DC Brush motors monitor Av ailable in 75 W, 250 W, Two different package and 500 W power levels sizes available Operating supply voltage Enable input and Fault range of 12 V to 56 V output safety interlocks Field oriented control Works with Magellan ICs, FPGAs or microprocessor- Overcurrent, overvoltage, based controllers and undervoltage protection Comes in horizontal and vertical mount Single supply operation configurations from motor bus voltage Digital SPI torque Fu lly digital current control command with checksum I2t current foldback Industry leading efficiency limiting and power density On-board performance ATLAS Digital Amplifiers are compact single-axis Full RoHS compliant and trace and motor parameter amplifiers that provide high performance torque control for CE marked storage in NVRAM DC Brush, Brushless DC, and step motors. They are packaged Up to 14A continuous, 25A in a compact, solderable module and are ideal for use in Multi-motor version peak motor output positioning motion control, velocity control, and precision allows motor type to be force control applications. programmed by user User programmable current loop gain values SPI (Serial Peripheral High Performance in an Ultra Compact Package Interface) eliminates analog ATLAS Digital Amplifiers are used for direct control of motor +/- 10 V torque signals torque, or in conjunction with higher level motion controllers. Their very compact size and high power output make them ideally suited for applications such as medical equipment, laboratory automation, scientific instruments, general purpose CONFIGURATION motion control, force feedback, and actuator controls. ATLAS Amplifiers are provided in vertical and horizontal mounting configurations, with three power levels, and two package sizes. Magellan IC, Optional Hall Advanced Amplifier Technology microprocessor and Quad or other host ATLAS Digital Amplifiers utilize PMDs proprietary digital Encoder controller current control and switching technology for exceptional Feedback efficiency and quiet motor operation. Control features include user-programmable gain parameters, performance trace, field oriented control, and I2t current management. Atlas amplifiers are internally powered from a single motor supply voltage, and Pulse and provide automatic protection from overcurrent, undervoltage, Direction overvoltage, overtemperature, and short circuit faults. SPI Easy to Use The ATLAS family has been designed to work seamlessly with PMDs Magellan motion control ICs. Alternatively, they can be ATLAS Brushless DC used with dedicated FPGAs, digital signal processors, or general Digital DC Brush purpose microprocessors. Communication is via SPI (Serial Amplier Step Motor Peripheral Interface) using a simple, packet-oriented protocol. For step motors, in addition to the SPI format a pulse and direction input mode is provided.
