X5163, X5165 Data Sheet August 13, 2015 FN8128.4 CPU Supervisor with 16Kbit SPI EEPROM Features Selectable watchdog timer Description Low V detection and reset assertion These devices combine four popular functions, Power-on CC - Five standard reset threshold voltages Reset Control, Watchdog Timer, Supply Voltage Supervision, and Block Lock Protect Serial EEPROM Memory in one reset threshold voltage using - Re-program low V CC special programming sequence package. This combination lowers system cost, reduces board space requirements, and increases reliability. = 1V - Reset signal valid to V CC Determine watchdog or low voltage reset with a volatile Applying power to the device activates the power-on reset flag bit circuit which holds RESET/RESET active for a period of time. This allows the power supply and oscillator to stabilize Long battery life with low power consumption before the processor can execute code. - <50A max standby current, watchdog on - <1A max standby current, watchdog off The Watchdog Timer provides an independent protection mechanism for microcontrollers. When the microcontroller - <400A max active current during read fails to restart a timer within a selectable time out interval, the 16kbits of EEPROM device activates the RESET/RESET signal. The user selects Built-in inadvertent write protection the interval from three preset values. Once selected, the - Power-up/power-down protection circuitry interval does not change, even after cycling the power. - Protect 0, 1/4, 1/2 or all of EEPROM array with Block The devices low V detection circuitry protects the users CC Lock protection system from low voltage conditions, resetting the system when - In-circuit programmable ROM mode V falls below the minimum V trip point. RESET/RESET is CC CC 2MHz SPI interface modes (0,0 & 1,1) asserted until V returns to proper operating level and CC stabilizes. Five industry standard V thresholds are TRIP Minimize EEPROM programming time available, however, Intersils unique circuits allow the - 32-byte page write mode threshold to be reprogrammed to meet custom requirements - Self-timed write cycle or to fine-tune the threshold for applications requiring higher - 5ms write cycle time (typical) precision. 2.7V to 5.5V and 4.5V to 5.5V power supply operation Available packages: 14 Ld TSSOP, 8 Ld SOIC, 8 Ld PDIP Pb-free plus anneal available (RoHS compliant) Pinouts 14 Ld TSSOP X5163, X5165 8 Ld SOIC/PDIP X5163, X5165 CS/WDI 1 14 V CC SO RESET/RESET 2 13 V CS/WDI 1 8 CC NC 3 12 NC SO 2 7 RESET/RESET NC NC 4 11 X5163, X5165 WP 3 6 SCK NC 5 10 NC V SS 4 5 SI WP SCK 6 9 V SS SI 7 8 CAUTION: These devices are sensitive to electrostatic discharge follow proper IC Handling Procedures. 1 1-888-INTERSIL or 1-888-468-3774 Copyright Intersil Americas LLC 2005, 2006, 2015.
