4.444.001-06 is the six-digit planimetric map code for the Roztocze region of eastern Poland. This code identifies the current landscape in the region. It is composed of four main elements: a four-digit set of numbers, a period (.), a four-digit set of numbers, an underscore (_) followed by a two-digit numerical code. The four-digit set of numbers on the left of the underscore is the coordinate system used to reference the region, which correspond to longitude and latitude of the region. The four-digit set of numbers to the right of the underscore is the unit/scale of the map. The two-digit numerical code further specifies the type of map. For example, 01 is a generic thematic map, 03 is a cadastral survey, 06 is a topographic map, and 18 is a geologic map. Together, the six-digit code assists in identifying the map's contents and the region to which it refers.
