The L297/1 with Motor/Motion/Ignition Controllers & Drivers Stepper Motor manufactured by STMicroelectronics is a single-chip motor+motion+ignition controller and driver for bipolar stepper motors. It is suited for both full-step and half-step modes, and contains features such as automatic current decrement, thermal sensing and protection against short-circuits and overheating. The L297/1 controller combines microstepping and maximum current control, allowing smooth operation of a stepper motor in the most demanding applications. It can be used in a variety of motor-driven devices, from vending machines to industrial automation. The integrated internal current sensing provides current measurement without needing external sensing voltage and also saves space on the board layout. With highly efficient operation, the L297/1 controller helps extend battery life in battery-powered applications.
