The TL494CD is a Pulse-Width-Modulation Control Circuit from Texas Instruments. This integrated circuit is used in switch-mode power supply (SMPS) control applications. It contains all the active functions required for controlling the onset, duration, and repetition rate of pulses. These features include a TL494 error amplifier, an adjustable reference voltage, an adjustable pulse-width oscillator, an output control block and dead-time control. It has a wide adjustable operating frequency, up to 100kHz, and is capable of direct RMS-current control. The TL494CD can generate either a single-ended or a complementary pulse-width-modulated output, making it ideal for use with both inductive and capacitive loads. It can also be used with zero-crossing detectors and current-mode controllers to deliver precise control of output duties.
