MAX8940 19-4662 Rev 0 6/09 Low-Noise, High PSRR, Low-Dropout, 120mA Linear Regulator General Description Features The MAX8940 low-noise, low-dropout (LDO) linear reg- Space-Saving SC70 ulator is designed to deliver up to 120mA continuous 25V Output Noise at 100Hz to 100kHz RMS output current. This regulator achieves a low 120mV Bandwidth dropout for 120mA load current. The MAX8940 uses an 65dB PSRR at 10kHz advanced architecture to achieve low output voltage noise of 25V and PSRR of 45dB at 100kHz. RMS 120mV Dropout at 120mA Load The MAX8940 is preset to either 2.8V or 3.0V. Designed Stable with 1F Ceramic Capacitor for Any Load with a p-channel MOSFET series pass transistor, the Guaranteed 120mA Output MAX8940 maintain very low ground current (40A). Output Voltages: 2.8V or 3V The regulator is designed and optimized to work with low- Low 40A Ground Current value, low-cost ceramic capacitors. The MAX8940 requires only 1F (typ) of output capacitance for stability Excellent Load/Line Transient with any load. When disabled, current consumption drops Overcurrent and Thermal Protection to below 1A. Package is a 5-pin SC70.
