The BT134 part of CDIL (Continental Device India Limited) is a sensitive gate silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) commonly used in many electronic circuits. It has three terminals, namely anode (A), cathode (K) and gate (G). The BT134 SCR can be triggered by applying a positive voltage to its gate terminal. The SCR is normally in the ‘off’ state, and when a positive voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the SCR turns to the ‘on’ state and passes current through its anode and cathode terminals. This SCR is rated for an inverse DC gate trigger current of 0.5mA, a maximum repetitive peak off-state voltage of 800V, and a maximum DC gate trigger voltage of 8V. It is typically used for AC and DC motor speed control, AC circuit control, rectifying circuits, and thyristor fuse and motor protection applications.
