CY8CMBR2010 CapSense Express 10-Button Controller CapSense Express 10-Button Controller Industrial temperature range: 40 C to +85 C Features 32-pin Quad Flat No leads (QFN) package Easy to use capacitive button controller (5 mm 5 mm 0.6 mm) Ten-button solution configurable through Hardware straps No software tools or programming required Functional Description Ten general-purpose outputs (GPO) The CY8CMBR2010 CapSense Express capacitive touch GPOs linked to CapSense buttons sensing controller saves time and money, quickly enabling a GPOs support direct LED drive capacitive touch sensing user interface in your design. It is a SmartSense Auto-Tuning hardware-configurable device and does not require any software Maintains optimal button performance even in noisy environ- tools, firmware coding, or device programming. This device is ment enabled with Cypresss revolutionary SmartSense CapSense parameters dynamically set in runtime Auto-Tuning algorithm. SmartSense Auto-Tuning ends the Saves time and effort in device tuning need to manually tune the user interface during development and production ramp. This speeds the time to volume and saves Wide parasitic capacitance (C ) range (5 pF40 pF) P valuable engineering time, test time and production yield loss. Noise Immunity The CY8CMBR2010 CapSense controller supports up to ten Specifically designed for superior noise immunity to external capacitive touch sensing buttons and ten General Purpose radiated and conducted noise Outputs (GPO). The GPO is an active low output controlled Low radiated noise emission directly by the CapSense input making it ideal for a wide variety System Diagnostics of CapSense buttons - reports faults at of consumer, industrial, and medical applications. The wide device power up operating range of 1.71 V to 5.5 V enables unregulated battery operation, further saving component cost. The same device can Button shorts also be used in different applications with varying power Improper value of modulator capacitor (C ) MOD supplies. Out of range C value P This device supports ultra low-power consumption in both run Advanced features mode and deep sleep modes to stretch battery life. In addition, Robust sensing even with closely spaced buttons - flanking this device also supports many advanced features which sensor suppression (FSS) enhance the robustness and user interface of the end solution. User-configurable LED Effects Some of the key advanced features include Noise Immunity and On-system power-on FSS. Noise Immunity improves the immunity of the device LED ON Time after button release against radiated and conducted noise, such as audio and radio frequency (RF) noise. FSS provides robust sensing even with Supports analog voltage output (requires external resistors) closely spaced buttons. FSS is a critical requirement in small Serial Debug Data output form factor applications. Simplifies production-line testing and system debug Power-on LED effects provide a visual feedback to the design at Wide operating voltage range power-on. This improves the aesthetic value of the end product. 1.71 V to 5.5 V ideal for both regulated and unregulated System Diagnostics test for design faults at power-on and report battery applications any failures. This simplifies production line testing and reduces manufacturing costs. Serial Debug data output gives the critical Low power consumption 1 information about the design, such as button C and P Average current consumption of 21 A per button signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). This further helps in production line Deep sleep current: 100 nA testing. Note 1. 21 A per button (4-buttons used, 3% touch time, 10 pF < Cp of all buttons < 20 pF, Button Scan Rate = 556 ms, with power consumption optimized, Noise Immunity level Normal, CS0 sensitivity High).
