MP5003 3.3V, 1A-3A Programmable Current Limit Switch with Auto Enable The Future of Analog IC Technology DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP5003 is a protection device designed to Integrated 44m Power FET protect circuitry on the output (V ) from OUT Enable/Fault Pin transients on the input (V ). It also protects V IN IN Adjustable Slew Rate for Output Voltage from undesired shorts and transients coming Adjustable Current Limit: 1A-3A from the load. Automatically Startup after Thermal Protection At start up, inrush current is limited by limiting the Over Voltage Limit slew rate at V . The slew rate is controlled by a OUT small capacitor at the dv/dt pin. The dv/dt pin has APPLICATIONS an internal circuit that allows the customer to float Hot Swap this pin (no connect) and still receive a 1.1ms ramp time at V . PC Cards OUT Cell Phones The max load at the output (V ) is current OUT Laptops limited. This is accomplished by utilizing a sense FET topology. The magnitude of the current limit MPS and The Future of Analog IC Technology are Registered Trademarks of Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. is controlled by an external resistor connected between the I pins. LIMIT An internal charge pump drives the gate of the power device, allowing a very low on-resistance DMOS power FET of just 44m. V is protected from V being too low or too OUT IN high. Under Voltage Lockout (UVLO) assures that the input is above the minimum operating threshold, before the power device is turned on. If V goes above the high output threshold, the IN output voltage will be limited.
