The 6N138M consists of a gallium-arsenide infrared-emitting diode optically coupled to an integrated photodetector functioning as a detector circuit. 3. The output of the 6N138M is an open collector NPN transistor that can sink a maximum of 100mA of current. 4. The 6N138M requires a nominal 5V supply and has a typical turnout of 500ns. 5. It has a maximum dark current of 100nA and a collector-to-emitter breakdown voltage of 25V. 6. The 6N138M is available in a wide selection of packages, including the mini-DIP, surface-mountable SOIC, and mini-flat, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
