LM7809 is a voltage regulator IC from the Linear Technology Corporation. It is a 9V linear regulator that is able to supply a steady output current of 1A. It has a wide input voltage range of up to 35V and it is designed to be used in applications where the input voltage fluctuates frequently. It also has excellent temperature stability and protection against overloads and shorts. It also has low noise and ripple, which makes it suitable for audio systems as well. It includes an internal thermal shutdown facility and a separate enable pin that can be used to switch the output transistor on and off.
