DATA SHEET www.onsemi.com Enhanced, High-Efficiency TSOP6 Power Factor Controller SN SUFFIX CASE 318G 1 NCP1622 The 6pin PFC controller NCP1622 is designed to drive PFC boost MARKING DIAGRAM stages. It is based on an innovative Valley Synchronized Frequency Foldback (VSFF) method. In this mode, the circuit classically XXXAYW operates in Critical conduction Mode (CrM) when V voltage control exceeds a programmable value V . When V is below this ctrl,FF control 1 preset level V , the NCP1622 (versions B** and D** ) linearly ctrl,FF XXX = Specific Device Code decays the frequency down to about 30 kHz until V reaches the control A = Assembly Location SKIP mode threshold. VSFF maximizes the efficiency at both Y = Year nominal and light load. In particular, the standby losses are reduced W = Work Week to a minimum. Like in FCCrM controllers, internal circuitry allows = PbFree Package nearunity power factor even when the switching frequency is (Note: Microdot may be in either location) reduced. Housed in a TSOP6 package, the circuit also incorporates the features necessary for robust and compact PFC stages, with few external components.
