ISL22511 Single Push Button Controlled Potentiometer (XDCP) Data Sheet July 16, 2009 FN6678.1 Low Noise, Low Power, 32 Taps, Push Features Button Controlled Potentiometer Solid-State Non-Volatile Potentiometer The Intersil ISL22511 is a three-terminal digitally-controlled Push Button Controlled potentiometer (XDCP) implemented by a resistor array Single or Auto Increment/Decrement composed of 31 resistive elements and a wiper switching network. The ISL22511 features a push button control, a - Fast Mode after 1s Button Press shutdown mode, as well as an industry-leading TQFN AUTOSTORE of Last Wiper Position or Manual Store of package. Wiper Position The push button control has individual PU and PD inputs for Shutdown Mode adjusting the wiper. To eliminate redundancy, the wiper 32 Wiper Tap Points position will automatically increment or decrement if one of - Middle Scale Wiper Position on Power-Up these inputs is held longer than one second. Low Power CMOS Forcing both PU and PD low for more than two seconds -V = 2.7V to 5.5V CC activates shutdown mode. Shutdown mode disconnects the - Terminal Voltage, 0 to V top of the resistor chain and moves the wiper to the lowest CC - Standby Current, 3A Max position, minimizing power consumption. R Value = 10k, 50k The three terminals accessing the resistor chain naturally TOTAL configure the ISL22511 as a voltage divider. A rheostat is High reliability easily formed by floating an end terminal or connecting it to - Endurance: 1,000,000 data changes per bit per register the wiper. - Register data retention: 50 years T +55C NC O V (SUPPLY VOLTAGE) CC V PU 1 9 CC Packages PD TQFN ASE 2 8 - 8 Ld SOIC (Top View) RH 7 RL 3 - 10 Ld TQFN (2.1mmx1.6mm) V RW SS 6 4 RH PU Pb-Free (RoHS Compliant) NC CONTROL PD BLOCK RW Applications O ASE PU 1 8 V CC RL SOIC PD 2 7 ASE Volume Control (Top View) RH 3 6 RL LED/LCD Brightness Control V 4 5 RW SS V (GROUND) SS Contrast Control Programming Bias Voltages Ladder Networks CAUTION: These devices are sensitive to electrostatic discharge follow proper IC Handling Procedures. 1 1-888-INTERSIL or 1-888-468-3774 Intersil (and design) is a registered trademark of Intersil Americas Inc.
